Amateria

Amateria

Written By: Atrus

Amateria is one of five lesson Ages written by Atrus to teach his sons, Sirrus and Achenar. Each Age had a different concept behind it, in the case of Amateria it was;

Dynamic forces spur change

Sirrus and Achenar were to visit each Age and try to understand the concept behind it before moving to Narayan where the final concept could be found, in order to teach them how to write Ages.

On Amateria, Atrus seemed to be experimenting with an interesting piece of technology. By using the Ages native crystals he was able to turn water lathe into an ice sphere, unfortunately the properties in the water of Amateria wasn’t quite suited to the experiment and the spheres often broke due to sound vibrations and impacts. However the properties of the water on Narayan was much better suited for the job, with the crystals Atrus was able to create a protection shield of ice.

J’nanin

J'nanin

Written By: Atrus

J’nanin has been described by some as a “rock climbers paradise”, a deep basin of rock filled with fresh water and littered which colossal tusks. It served as a hub to the lesson Ages of Atrus, written to teach his sons about the Art of Writing. It was from here that the sons could access Edanna, Volatic and Amateria, learning of the different concepts behind the Ages before linking to their final lesson on Narayan.

It has been speculated that J’nanin may have served as the base of operations for Sirrus and Achenar during their plotting to take over the Ages of Myst. The sons left J’nanin after plundering the Age of Narayan. A native of Narayan had followed them back to J’nanin to confront them regarding their actions, they left the Age leaving the native, Saavedro, trapped for some 20 years.

Narayan

Narayan

Written By: Atrus

Narayan is one of five lesson Ages written by Atrus to teach his sons, Sirrus and Achenar. Each Age had a different concept behind it, in the case of Narayan it was;

Balanced systems stimulate civilisation.

The last of Atrus’ learning Ages for his sons, Sirrus and Achenar. Upon completing the lessons in the other Ages the sons would be granted access to Narayan, there they would be shown how a civilization could bring stability to an Age. Narayan was a vast oceanic Age, with large plants called lattice trees growing out of the seas. The people of Narayan harvested the spores that floated up from the ocean, grafting them onto the lattice trees. As the spores grew they were fashioned into roms and buildings that formed the Narayani city.

Narayan was thrown into a civil war of sorts when Sirrus and Achenar convinced the younger inhabitants that the old traditions were not needed. After loosing some of the structures to the sea the younger inhabitants saw that the old traditions were there for a reason. Sirrus and Achenar left the Age and in the 20 years after the Age slowly corrected itself.

Tomahna

Tomahna

Written By: Ri’Neref

Tomahna is the name given to Atrus, Catherine’s and Yeesha’s new home that Atrus built upon the surface after the events of Terahnee [see: Book of D’ni]. Having given the survivors of D’ni a new home (Releeshahn), Atrus turned his attention back to his family.

Tomahna is located on the surface of Earth in New Mexico a few miles away from The Cleft, high up in the hills. A horse-shoe shaped valley is home to a small lake and waterfalls, the cliff faces dotted with buildings that form the home of Atrus and Catherine. The home was witness to the destructive force of Sirrus after he managed to escape Spire to continue with the plans he and Achenar started several decades earlier [see: Myst IV Revelation]. As far as we are aware the damage was repaired and it continued to serve as home to Atrus and Catherine until Catherine’s death.

Voltaic

Voltaic

Written By: Atrus

Voltaic is one of five lesson Ages written by Atrus to teach his sons, Sirrus and Achenar. Each Age had a different concept behind it, in the case of Voltaic it was;

Energy powers future motion.

Voltaic is a dry, desolate island rising out of a vast deep blue ocean. The Age is home to various forms of energy ranging from waterfalls to steam vents, showing the concept behind the Age of energy in motion. Atrus wished to teach his sons that natural forms of energy are useful and can be harnessed, with some of the structures showing just how it can be harnessed.
