Ahnonay

Ahnonay

Written By: Unknown

The main portion of this Age is situated within a large waterfall, with rocks jutting out. Owned by Kadish before the fall it was used to fool the D’ni into thinking that Kadish could Link through time therefore reinforcing his claim to being The Watcher.

The waterfall is home to a large structure that supports 4 spheres, 3 of the spheres represent the D’ni home-worlds as it was, as it is, and as it will be. The fourth sphere however was incomplete at the time of The Fall and contains a ringed platform surrounding a vast statue of Kadish. It is unknown how he managed to convince the D’ni that it was Garternay they were Linking to when the Age itself was called Ahnonay, perhaps they did not know the name of the old home-world.

Ahnonay Cathedral

Ahnonay Cathedral
Written By: Unknown

Sometimes known as the Ahnonay Temple and Ahnonay Linking Chamber, the Ahnonay Cathedral was used in conjunction with Ahnonay. Kadish led tours through the Age and Cathedral to show that he could link through time and therefore strengthening his claim as The Grower. The spheres of Ahnonay were operated by weight mechanisms, when the party linked out of a sphere they would walk through the Cathedral and use the book there to link back to Ahnonay. This would give the mechanism time to rotate to the next sphere, when the party arrived back in the Age it would look as if they had traveled through time.

Ashem’en District

Ashem'en District
Written By: Ri’Neref

The Ashem’en District which was originally called Uran, was constructed during the reign of King Me’emen and opened officially in 5500 DE. The district was renamed Ashem’en in 5541 DE after King Me’emen’s son, Ashem who was a Healer, died the previous year from a disease he caught whilst investigating a new Age for safty.

Construction was begun in 5856, on the new Lanaren District that was adjacent to Ashem’en and was a residential district occupied by industrial workers when it was opened in 5903.

Bevin Neighbourhood

Bevin Neighbourhood
Written By: Ri’Neref

The Bevin Neighbourhood was the first of its kind o be opened by the DRC during their restoration efforts in 2001. When the Authorized Explorers were first invited into the Cavern this was the only place they had access to before the Book Room was opened up later on which contained a Linking Book to the garden Age of Eder Kemo.

Bevin is somewhat the “generic” design for neighbourhoods, the majority of them contain the same layout just with minor cosmetic differences such as a clock, lanterns, different lamp styles etc.

The Cleft

The Cleft
Written By: Ri’Neref

The Cleft used to be a way station for Anna and her father during their long journeys out into the New Mexico desert. However after The Fall of D’ni, Anna emerged from the Tunnels at the Cleft with her son Gehn [see: Book of Ti’ana]. Here she made her home and went on to raise Atrus prior to his journey to D’ni

Recently The Cleft has served as the gateway to D’ni for the explorers who felt the call. The Cleft and its surrounding land was purchased by Elias Zandi who passed it on to his son Jeff Zandi when he died.

D’ni

D'ni
Written By: Ri’Neref

250 years ago a human from the surface called Anna [see: Book of Ti’ana]
found her way down into the Cavern and the result was The Fall, the destruction of the great empire. For 250 years it lay hidden until John “Fighting Branch” Loftin rediscovered it in 1987, since then the Cavern has seen a lot of activity as the DRC have began to restore the Cavern and its Ages and have opened them up for Explorers to visit.

Eder Gira

Eder Gira
Written By: Unknown

Like its sister Age, Eder Kemo, Eder Gira was written during the “garden binge” around 8100 DE. Age is unofficially split into 2 sections “Eder Gira” and “Beyond Gira”, Eder Gira is referred to as the small patch of volcanic land that the majority of books Link to. This section of the Age has waterfalls cascading down from the rock and strange glowing rays fish.

“Beyond Gira” is referred to the area that lies outside the volcanic valley, this is a lush green place with tall rock spires and signs of civilization, currently access to these outer area’s are not possible.

Eder Kemo

Eder Kemo
Written By: Unknown

Like its sister Age, Eder Gira, Eder Kemo was written during the “garden binge” around 8100 DE. Eder Kemo is often mistaken for being the garden Age written about in the story of Shomat. Named after the fish that inhabit the Age, Kemo is full of wildlife ranging from Trooms to Keanulints.

Eder Kemo was the Age in which Phil Henderson went missing for almost a year before returning, it is a mysterious place covered with many “Bahro glyphs” many of which have now finally been translated.

Er’cana

Er'cana
Written By: Unknown

Er’cana is a large harvest Age of long winding canyons and snow capped mountains that stretch out on the other side of a vast blue sea. The Age served as part of Kadish’s desception in regards to being The Grower, He was an Engineer on the Age and used its crops to create a substance that made the lake in D’ni glow brighter.

Alot of the Age is inaccessible after a fissure opened up causing some of the track to collapse. However most of the factory is still intact and even sports a Linking Book that leads to the Ashem’en District

Gahreesen

Gahreesen
Written By: Unknown

Established in 8500 DE, Gahreesen was one of the Guild of Maintainers Ages. It served as a training center for guild members and also as a prison, later it was the location of KI dispensers just before The Fall. In the 200 plus years of being abandoned Gahreesen has suffered from extensive structural decay, causing parts of the Age to fall away.

The Great Shaft

The Great Shaft
Written By: Ri’Neref

The Great Shaft was part of a project to connect D’ni and the surface through an intricate network of tunnels. After working on the tunnels for several years the D’ni Council decided that a shaft heading straight to the surface should be created. Designed by Master Geran of the Guild of Surveyors the shaft was built but contact with the surface was never made after a huge earthquake struck the area.

Great Zero

The Great Zero
Written By: Ri’Neref

By tradition the Great Zero was established upon first linking to an Age and would usually be the nearest landmark. With D’ni the location of the Great Zero was actually chosen by Ri’Neref for the fresh water that poured from the cavern ceiling. The Great Zero was designed to align with the magnetic north of an Age, in D’ni this line was reserved for the building of religious buildings only.

Kadish Gallery

Kadish Gallery
Written By: Unknown

The Kadish Store (Gallery) was brought by Kadish after his dismissal from the Guild of Writers. The Gallery house many pieces of work of D’ni origin as well as work known as “Outsider Art” or artwork belonging to people of non D’ni descent.

Designated City Interior 0080 by the DRC it was cleaned up and was under Phase 5 of its restoration when the Cavern was closed at the start of 2004. The room is accessible from Kadish Tolesa, and through Yeesha’s Journey, people have been able to make visits to the room as they wish since early 2003.

Kadish Tolesa

Kadish
Written By: Kadish

Kadish Tolesa was written by Guild Master Kadish before The Fall, it is estimated that it was written in the mid 9390’s DE. The Age served as a complicated lock for a vault where he stored large amounts of wealth. Kadish’ own body can be found in the vault having died alone with his riches whilst his wife died alone in the D’ni city.

An Age of huge tree’s and purple skies, Kadish Tolesa’s ruinous state is down to Kadish’ incompetence as a writer, the tree’s started growing at an alarming rate and tore the Age up as they grew out of control.

Kirel Neighbourhood

Kirel
Written By: Ri’Neref

Kirel served as the DRC’s hood, a place where they set up permanent residence in D’ni. A private hood it served as the DRC’s base of operations.

Kirel is in a sense a mirrored version of other hoods such as Bevin and Seret, expect the hoods colours are towards the blue end of the spectrum instead of the yellows and reds of Bevin. The Prayer Chamber (Egg Room) in Kirel is protected by a combination lock and served as the DRC’s store-room of a sort, as there are five Bahro Stones to various area’s of Ae’gura.

K’veer

K'veer
Written By: Ri’Neref

K’veer was once the mansion island of Lord Rakeri and his son Lord Veovis, during the time leading up to The Fall of D’ni it was the base of Veovis and A’Gaeris. Later it became the home of Gehn, father of Atrus.

During Atrus’ rebellion against his fathers twisted view of The Art. Gehn locked his son in one of the oldest rooms on the island, it served as Atrus prison once again many years later when his own sons betrayed him.

With the help of the people of Averone, Atrus was able to escape the room and venture back out into D’ni.

Myst

Myst
Written By: Ti’ana (Anna)

Myst was written by Atrus’ grandmother Ti’ana during the events that were unfolding on Riven [see: Book of Atrus]. The Age served as a haven for Atrus and his family for many years until his sons betrayal. A hub between all the Ages Atrus wrote it later became a sore memory of the events that transpired between the family and their sons betrayal.

After 250 years left untouched Myst fell into dis-repair its only visitor the D’ni archivist Esher

Nexus

Nexus
Written By: Unknown

The Nexus appears to be a small Age which serves as a huge Linking hub. Its only features are rotating cogs which house hundreds of Linking Books and a KI terminal with an imager screen. By placing your KI in the terminal you will have access to the navigation screen on the imager, from there you can access various Linking Books. The book falls out of a slot and opens up ready for use after the choice has been made.

The KI remembers most of the Ages an explorer has been to, and presents them as an option in the navigation screen. In the past the D’ni had watchers who routinely linking into the Nexus to make sure no-one had gotten stuck (lack of KI for instance). It would appear that the DRC has access to a separate area of the Nexus which houses The Lattice, the core of the KI and Nexus workings.

Relto

Relto
Written By: Yeesha

Relto, “The High Place” as it apparently means according to Yeesha, is an Age written as a Gift for her parents Atrus and Catherine. It was written to remind them of another place, Myst, which is why certain structures of the Age are placed where they are. The book demonstraits Yeesha’s unique talent with The Art and breaks down 2 fundamental rules of The Art, the first is the ability to link to another place within the same Age and the second is the fact that the book comes with you when you Link.

Sharper’s Office

K'veer
Written By: Ri’Neref

The office was once owned by the various previous owners of Teledahn, one of them being the slave trader Manesmo, the current owner being Douglas Sharper. Access to the room is restricted, the only way in or out of the room is through a Linking Book, it appears that the only copy is in the possession of Douglas Sharper.

Douglas used the office as a secret location where he could work and store things away from the DRC’s eyes, among these items are notes from Dr. Sutherland to Dr. Watson and a couple of his Journals. As it stands it is unknown whether Sharper is still using the office after venturing off to follow The Path of the Shell.

Spy Room

Spy Room
Written By: Ri’Neref

The Spyroom is a small room located in the Tokotah II building, it houses a telescope that is directed toward the Tokotah building. It was used by Douglas Sharper to spy upon the DRC during their meetings they held there. It was later used to house the Linking Book to Phil’s Relto, which Douglas viewed as a sort of memorial.

Teledahn

Teledahn
Written By: Grand Master Mararon

Teledahn was written for Lord Hinahsh of the Guild of Caterers, for his 250th birthday, in the year 8990 DE. In 9000 DE after Hinahsh’s death the Age was passed over to the Guild of Caterers, where Guild Captain Ventus industrialized the Age. After some time a man called Manesmo brought the Age and used it to trade slaves, the slaves would go from Teledahn to Rebek where they would be used for sport. Manesmo and Teledahn was under investigation by the Guild of Maintainers prior to The Fall.

Watcher’s Sanctuary

Watchers Sanctuary
Written By: Ri’Neref

The Watchers Sanctuary (also known as The Great Tree Pub) houses a tree-like structure known as The Great Tree of D’ni and is located in the J’taeri district of Ae’gura. Unlike the Tree which has been dated back to the 2000s DE, the pub was built in the late 4000’s to honour The Watcher who had recently published a collection of prophecies in a book called Words.

The pub was later owned by Kadish who made some changes to the structure to coincide with his false claim that he was The Grower.
